Technology for ice cream innovations
For the production of the BIg CARAmeL,
a new vanilla ice cream bar
with a caramel filling, the existing
production equipment required an
expansion. A manual tool developed
by Rosen and a partner company
needed to be synchronized and
moved electrically with the timing of
the production line. Since the drive
technology conventionally used by
Rosen had been discontinued and
would only be available for a limited
time at extremely high costs,
the company took the opportunity
to change to a new supplier. While
evaluating offers from various potential
suppliers, Rosen based their
decision on criteria such as service,
price/performance ratio and especially
long-term availability. In the
end they decided on a future with
B&R, and selected products from
the ACOpOS series for the project.

in the ice cream to meet Rosen’s

guarantees maximum operating comfort for
the new production line.
Rosen extended their changeover
to B&R to include the control and visualization
platform: In the operator
station, a power panel with a 5.7 inch
touch screen display is the HmI used
to control the tool. And that won’t
be the end either: A further optimization
of the tool involving replacement
of a pneumatic cylinder with a
