between major events <strong>and</strong> processes in various parts of Eurasia, Africa<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Americas, both before <strong>and</strong> since <strong>the</strong> epoch of European ‘discoveries’.<br />

— capability of analysing historical documents <strong>and</strong> historiographical texts from<br />

various periods, interpreting <strong>and</strong> contextualising <strong>the</strong>m correctly in course<br />

work, written reports <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> final dissertation.<br />

— detailed <strong>and</strong> critically founded knowledge of <strong>the</strong> chosen period or <strong>the</strong>matic<br />

domain of specialisation in course work <strong>and</strong> written tests as well as in <strong>the</strong> final<br />

dissertation.<br />

— ability to use of ICT resources in a scholarly way, applying high st<strong>and</strong>ards of<br />

textual analysis to electronic as well as to traditional archival, narrative <strong>and</strong><br />

oral sources.<br />

— ability to distinguish different registers of scholarly expression <strong>and</strong> to apply<br />

<strong>the</strong>m appropriately in summaries, reviews <strong>and</strong> written <strong>and</strong> oral assignments as<br />

well as in his/her final dissertation.<br />

— ability to use tools of o<strong>the</strong>r human, natural or exact sciences when necessary to<br />

tackle a research problem.<br />
