Our Duplicate Bridge game on Thursday afternoons draws players from
throughout the Temecula Valley. If Duplicate Bridge is your game, come try your

SMARxT CARD
Senior Medication Awareness Training Program
This program is sponsored by Riverside County office on Aging. COME GET YOUR
SMARxT CARD. The SMARxT Card Program was created in response to the fact
that older adults are at risk from improper use of medication. In the year 2000,
the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) noted that approximately 10,000 people die
each year due to this problem.

(Caregiver’s Support Group)
If you are caring for a loved one who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease or any
other disability, then come and share your difficulties with people who can help.
This group offers lots of support, information and help for caregivers.

The Seniors Golden Years organization provides free blood pressure checks. If you
need to monitor your blood pressure, come in and take advantage of this free

Picking up the Pieces
Bereavement Support Group
Hospice of the Valleys provides a weekly bereavement support group at the Mary
Phillips Senior Center. These groups are supportive gatherings focused on the
normal and unique responses following the death of a loved one. For information
regarding available services please call Hospice of the Valleys at 672-1666.

AARP
American Association of Retired Persons. This senior citizen’s advocacy group is
very active in senior issues and welcomes new members.

55 Alive Driver Program
AARP sponsors a driver improvement class that may entitle you to a reduction in
your auto insurance premiums, as well as refreshing your knowledge of the rules
of the road. This is an eight-hour class. Pre-registration is required. Payment is
made directly to AARP. Call the Mary Phillips Senior Center at 694-6464 for dates
and further information.

Grandparents Support Group
The City of Temecula, in conjunction with the Office of Aging, is committed to
helping grandparents, relatives, caregivers and children in developing,
maintaining and strengthening the family.

Social Security Information
A representative from Social Security will be at the Mary Phillips Senior Center to
answer your questions, replace lost social security cards and set up
appointments for retirement. No appointment is necessary, seen on First-come,
first-served basis. If you cannot come during the designated time, you can get
more information 24 hours a day by calling Social Security's toll-free number,
1-800-772-1213.

Health Insurance Counseling
The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) is here to help
you sort through any confusion about Medicare and health insurance. A qualified
HICAP counselor will provide free counseling, answer health insurance questions
and provide information on Medicare and other forms of health insurance.
Counselors can also help with information on insurance scams that target the
senior population. HICAP is funded by the California Office on Aging and does not
sell, recommend or endorse any insurance policy or health plan.

Senior Transport Program
Don’t sit inside…call us for your next ride...to the Mary Phillips Senior Center! The
Senior Transport Program offers door-to-door round-trip transportation to the
Mary Phillips Senior Center. For more information call 694-6464.

Return Time: 1:30-3:30pm

Fee: $.50/Resident; $1.00/Non-resident
RTA Riverside Transit Authority
RTA is offering a reduced fare for seniors (60 and above) and persons with
disabilities on fixed bus route service program. General fares are normally $1.25.
However, you can purchase a photo ID card for $2.00. This will reduce the cost
of your fare to 60 cents. The card is valid for 3 years. An RTA customer service
specialist will be on hand for questions and assistance.
