Objective<br />

1. Given the opportunity to finish exploring STDs with an in depth powerpoint<br />

presentation, students will clearly understand the symptoms, treatment or cure and<br />

potential complication of common STDs by accurately filling in their charts.<br />

Before Class<br />

• Make sure to have "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases" powerpoint on Flash<br />

Drive ready to go.<br />

• Make sure to check out projector cart #2 as far in advance as possible.<br />

Review of the Day Before<br />

• Review STDs we went over quickly.<br />

Lesson (highlighted areas need to be written on board)<br />

• Activity<br />

• Tell students to get out their "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases"<br />

workbooks.<br />

• Start the "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases" powerpoint.<br />

• Get all the way to before RN/AIDS<br />

• Activity<br />

• Ask student if they think individuals who use alcohol and drugs are more likely to<br />

acquire an STDIHIV.<br />

• Discuss why or why not?<br />

• Responses: judgment impaired in decision to have sex/share needles,<br />

won't have health insurance, won't have money to go to doctor,<br />

won't go to doctor, won't think it will ever happen to them, won't be<br />

able to recognize sign or symptoms<br />
