Objective<br />

1. Given the opportunity to investigate puberty changes with a teacher and peers of the<br />

same gender, students will have a understanding of puberty, its differing patterns, and<br />

who they can seek out for support by participating in group discussions as well as a<br />

think, pair, share.<br />

Before Class<br />

• Expo Markers<br />

• Make sure to reserve a second room as far in advance so the boys can meet there with<br />

Mr. Nolan.<br />

• Make sure to copy enough "Male & Female Anatomy Word Find" worksheets.<br />

• Make sure to copy enough "Puberty Changes Boys & Girls".<br />

Review of the Day Before<br />

• The nurse was here to review male and female anatomy!<br />

o Let's do a word find to review some of those terms.<br />

Lesson (highlighted areas need to be written on board)<br />

• Introduction<br />

• Why do you think we are having health class today wi~hjust girls/boys?<br />

• We want you to be in an environment that you feel most comfortable<br />

because your participation is very important today.<br />

• What you put into class is going to be what you get out of it!<br />

• Don't let this opportunity to get your questions answered pass you by!<br />

• What topics do you think we are going to talk about?<br />

• Possible Responses: boy stuff, girl stuff, sex stuff, etc.<br />

• What have you heard about puberty that you think might be a myth or you are not<br />

sure is true?<br />

• Write these things up on the side of the board so that they can be revisited at<br />

the end of the lesson to make sure they were addressed.
