Objective<br />

l. Given the opportunity to finish exploring STDs with an in depth powerpoint<br />

presentation, students will clearly understand the symptoms, treatment or cure and<br />

potential complication of common STDs by accurately filling in their charts.<br />

Before Class<br />

• Make sure to have "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases" powerpoint on Flash<br />

Drive ready to go.<br />

• Make sure to check out projector cart #2 as far in advance as possible.<br />

Review of the Day Before<br />

• Review STDs we went over quickly.<br />

Lesson (highlighted areas need to be written on board)<br />

• Activity<br />

• Tell students to get out their "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases"<br />

workbooks.<br />

• Start the "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases" powerpoint.<br />

• Get all the way to before HIV/AIDS<br />

• Activity<br />

• Ask student if their behavior toward a classmate would change if that person<br />

contracted HIV/AIDS.<br />

• Discuss why or why not in groups of no more than 5.<br />

• Bring group discussions back to the class.<br />

• Recap<br />

• What did we learn today?<br />

• You can and should avoid STDs/HIV /AIDS and pregnancy.<br />

• Most adolescents do not engage in risky behavior.<br />

• People who are infected with a STD/HIV may not have any signs or<br />

symptoms but can still transmit the infection to others.
