Objective
l. Given the opportunity to finish exploring STDs with an in depth powerpoint
presentation, students will clearly understand the symptoms, treatment or cure and
potential complication of common STDs by accurately filling in their charts.
Before Class
• Make sure to have "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases" powerpoint on Flash
Drive ready to go.
• Make sure to check out projector cart #2 as far in advance as possible.
Review of the Day Before
• Review STDs we went over quickly.
Lesson (highlighted areas need to be written on board)
• Activity
• Tell students to get out their "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases"
workbooks.
• Start the "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases" powerpoint.
• Get all the way to before HIV/AIDS
• Activity
• Ask student if their behavior toward a classmate would change if that person
contracted HIV/AIDS.
• Discuss why or why not in groups of no more than 5.
• Bring group discussions back to the class.
• Recap
• What did we learn today?
• You can and should avoid STDs/HIV /AIDS and pregnancy.
• Most adolescents do not engage in risky behavior.
• People who are infected with a STD/HIV may not have any signs or
symptoms but can still transmit the infection to others.
