system flexibility to accommodate the characteristics <strong>of</strong> variable resources as part <strong>of</strong> bulk<br />

power system design.<br />

• Study resource and transmission planning process changes required to include<br />

variable generation characteristics such as ramping, fuel mix, minimum generation<br />

levels, shorter scheduling intervals, etc.<br />

• Identify data requirements to support resource adequacy assessment and which <strong>NERC</strong><br />

entities should collect, retain and provide this data.<br />

1.5. Integration <strong>of</strong> large amounts <strong>of</strong> plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, storage and demand<br />

response programs may provide additional resource flexibility and influence bulk power<br />

system reliability and should be considered in planning studies<br />

Assess the influence on bulk power system reliability <strong>of</strong> accommodating large amounts <strong>of</strong><br />

designs maintain bulk power system reliability.<br />
