Va-Va’s Artisan-Crafted Vegetable
Products Bring Ancient Traditions
To The Modern Table
Va-Va vegetable products are a pioneer in all
natural, homemade Mediterranean specialties.
Their current line of gourmet vegetables,
pickles, and spicy spreads have gone
from a successful leader in ethnic markets
and grown into mainstream supermarkets,
natural food stores, delis and specialty gourmets.
Through it all, their products have
maintained a consistently high level of quality
alongside an unbeatable taste.
Va-Va products are produced in a familyowned
factory in Macedonia, just north of
Greece. The vegetables used in their products
are grown in local farms using high grade
unaltered seeds and soil. Trained Va-Va technicians,
alongside the farmers, monitor the
vegetable field’s health throughout the season
so that only the best batches will be used in the
final product. The vegetables are then picked
and processed by hand. It is this attention to
detail that, year after year, yields the highquality
products that VaVa brings to market.
The Va-Va product line ranges from family-size
jarred vegetables and salads (83
ounces) to their signature “amphora” products
(19 ounces), which are gorgeously packaged
in the stylized, classical Greek form. The
recipes for these spreads are centuries old and,
even though the methods in agriculture and
production have improved since then, the rustic,
homemade flavor remains the same.
The most popular of these products are the
roasted vegetable spreads, continually
praised by customers for the “freshly
roasted” taste that the Va-Va vegetable
spreads exhibit. Their lutenica (a chunky
blend of roasted peppers, carrots and tomatoes)
and ajvar (a creamy mix of roasted
peppers and eggplant) are a perfect addition
to sandwiches or side dishes, and make exquisite,
healthy dips, spreads and toppings.
Especially wonderful about Va-Va products
is that they are all natural, containing no
preservatives or additives, other than a bit of
salt. They are also low in both carbohydrates
and calories (per serving), as well as being
naturally gluten-free. Considering that these
products contain no meat, they are also perfect
for vegetarians and vegans alike.
Success in the American mainstream market
has given consumers this great new
choice for both their dietary needs and their
palate. Many have started to incorporate Va-
Va into everyday meals such as “lutenica
pizza” (Lutenica spread on some fresh bread
and drizzled with mozzarella and pepperoni)
and ajvar quesadillas (flat bread grilled with
ajvar, Monterey jack cheese and with fresh
vegetables in the middle). Taken together,
Va-Va products are a wonderful new addition
to the broad range of American foods.
These recipes, and more, can be found on
the company’s website, www.vavafoods.com,
alongside an online store that boasts more
than three hundred different products. All Va-
Va products are exclusively imported by Fast-
Pak Trading out of Garfield, NJ. To find
Bone Suckin’ Yaki Now
100-Percent Gluten Free
Ford’s Gourmet Foods, makers of the internationally
acclaimed line of Bone Suckin’
Sauces, announced their Yaki sauce is now
100 percent gluten free.
Bone Suckin’Yaki is a great alternative to
traditional teriyaki sauces. It has a richer flavor
because it is made with real Italian Balsamic
Vinegar, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and it
is lower in salt. And now it is also made with
premium Tamari soy sauce. Tamari is naturally
fermented with no wheat, making the
sauce 100-percent gluten free and even more
smooth and balanced than ever before.
“Bone Suckin’ Yaki was always considered
gluten free (less than 5 PPM) by the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but
that wasn’t enough for us, or for our customers
who suffer from Celiac disease and
other gluten sensitivities,” said Patrick Ford,
Vice President of International Marketing for
Ford’s. “We believe our customers deserve
the best … best-tasting and best for your
health and the health of your family.”
Ford’s continues to focus on and demand
all natural and gluten free ingredients in new
product development and brand extensions.
In 2008, Ford’s Gourmet Foods was recognized
for their efforts to provide gluten-free
products by Columbia University’s Celiac
Disease Center, one of the leading research
centers in the field.
Adds Ford: “We all take simple, all-American
things like enjoying great barbecue on
the Fourth of July for granted. When you have
an eight-year-old Celiac disease sufferer tell
you that they were able to enjoy this simple
pleasure for the first time because of one of
your products? Well, then it’s all worth it.”
Ford’s Gourmet Foods is a Raleigh, North
Carolina-based, fourth-generation family
business. They are known for creating some
of the world’s greatest tasting all-natural,
gluten-free foods, including Wine Nuts and
Fire Dancer Jalapeño Peanuts, and the internationally
acclaimed Bone Suckin’
Sauces―the only barbecue sauces rated #1
by Newsweek, Food & Wine and the United
Kingdom’s Restaurant Magazine. For more
