Musco Food Corporation: Origins,
Current And Future Success …
The history of Musco Food Corp. is both interesting
and inspiring. In the late 1800s, the
Musco family business was started in Italy.
Local cheeses were purchased from farmers,
aged and cured, then distributed throughout
Italy. In the 1920s, family members immigrated
to America, importing these cheeses
and many other specialty Italian foods for
distribution in the United States.
Musco Food Corp. has been a true pioneer
from its inception and continues to search the
world for the most viable products available.
For three generations, Musco’s commitment
has been to offer the best quality, while maintaining
competitive prices and a high standard
of customer service.
Musco has always favored and focused on
classics instead of trends. Owner Phil Musco
comments, “There are still plenty of fabulous
products that have been produced for centuries
that are not recognized in the U.S.A.!”
Musco Food Corporation is extremely well
known as one of the premier importers of
Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano,
Pecorino Romano, Provolone and Prosciutto
di Parma.
The company is now being recognized for
importing a wider variety of international
products to satisfy the needs of an evergrowing
customer base. Musco now looks
forward to servicing its new customers and
introducing them to the products it pioneered
and set the highest standards of quality for. It
also looks forward to offering its existing
customers new items that are amongst the
best products Imported from Spain, France,
Switzerland, Holland, Denmark, England
and, of course, Italy.
Musco is also renowned for imported Italian
products from nearly every category including
Olives, Marinated Seafood, Grilled
Vegetables, Canned Tomatoes and Pasta.
Salumi or Deli Meats is a strong and
growing category for Musco.
Prosciutto di Parma has always been the
best recognized product in the category, but
Musco’s selection continues to grow in both
imported & domestic products. Musco
recently introduced Culatello, which has created
much excitement. It is the most expensive,
highest quality Italian Salumi product,
with fantastic flavors and a texture which almost
melts in the mouth.
When it comes to cheese, there is a true,
deep-rooted passion and connection. According
to Mr. Musco, “Our family has been
involved in the cheese business for many
years, and it’s where it all began!”
We still take pride in being one of the few
importers to offer the cheeses from our native
Sicily, like Incanestrato and Ragusano,
which were favorites of the early Italian Immigrants
when they arrived in the United
States. We now proudly introduce Tuma
Persa (a rare cheese made by one producer).
For years we have taken pride in providing
the finest selected Parmigiano Reggiano
from Ambrosi and are now proud to introduce
a Bufala Parm/Sovrano and a Sheep
Parm/Brigadore.
Phil Musco proudly comments, “What
truly makes us different and contributes to
our ever-growing success is our staff, a
group of knowledgeable food professionals
who are passionate, dedicated and interested
in offering our customers the best food the
world has to offer!”
Well, here we go again … Is this round three
or four for the Walker Brothers and their Slap
Ya Mama Cajun products? Either way, Slap
Ya Mama has been drastically making a climb
in the market. Through constant expansion of
their product line and ambitious marketing efforts,
The Walker Family continues to exceed
their growth margins with every year.
The construction of their new Central Distribution
Center is underway and the plans to
follow are just as exciting as their past 10
years in business. “We will be introducing
several new products at the turn of 2012, allowing
us to present a more complete,
stronger line of products to new markets and
buyers when approaching them throughout
From the clean seas surrounding New
Zealand, a perfect sea salt is harvested by
drying with the wind & sun for 13-22
months. It still contains all the natural
trace elements and does not contain free
flowing or anti caking agents. The only ingredient
is sea salt. Most sea salts come
from dirty oceans, so the ocean water has
to be pasteurized, leaving only the sodium
chloride. Sodium chloride in this form is
harmful to good health. They also contain
a number of other ingredients that are not
helpful for a healthy lifestyle.
Pacific Sea Salt, in its clean, natural form,
helps to lower blood pressure, promote sleep
the beginning of the upcoming year,” says
Joe Walker. These young men have a very
strong vision of which avenues the occupancy
of this new facility will open for them.
Their marketing efforts will be able to expand
across different regions, and all aspects
of distribution will be quicker and more efficient,
leading to more success amongst their
accounts far and wide.
During the upcoming several months of
construction, the Walkers intend to continue
pushing their latest products, the Cajun pepper
sauce, fish fry and etouffee sauce. “There
are still markets out there who have not
heard of our newest products, and we intend
to make them fully aware by the close of
and balance blood
sugar. A healthy body
needs all the perfectly
balanced trace elements
found in a clean
ocean harvested sea
salt. It actually tastes
sweeter and can be
used with any of your
favorite foods.
amongst our customers before we start the
new wave of products in 2012.” says Jack
Walker. Slap Ya Mama’s customer base
spans all 50 states as well as Canada, the
U.K. and Australia. Therefore, introducing
their new products to every market in which
they are currently doing business is of high
importance. All the while, they are also pushing
their products in new markets by attending
international food shows. “This is the
first year that we really step out and attend
shows internationally, attempting to capture
a whole new clientele in various parts of the
