GRANT/LOAN
Additionally, first-year students cannot have been enrolled
previously as a regular student in an ACG-eligible college
program when still in high school and second-year students
must have successfully completed the first year and have a
cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Postsecondary Educational Gratuity Program – Grant
program assists children of Pennsylvania police officers,
firefighters, rescue and ambulance squad members, correction
employees, sheriffs, deputy sheriffs and National Guard
members who died in the line of duty, by providing a waiver
of tuition, fees, and room and board charges at Pennsylvania
state-owned, state-related and community colleges.
Available for a maximum of five academic years to students
whose parents have died in the line of duty since January 1,
1976.
POW-MIA Program – Provides special state grants to
children of a member of the U.S. Armed Forces who served on
active duty after January 31, 1955 and who has been a prisoner
of war or reported missing in action and was a Pennsylvania
resident for 12 months prior to active duty service.

Private Scholarships – Funds provided by civic clubs,
professional organizations, labor unions and private
businesses.
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program – Federal
program that provides funds to offer merit scholarships to
high school seniors.
National SMART Grant – The National Science and
Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant, also known as
the National Smart Grant is available during the third and
fourth years of undergraduate study to students who are
enrolled on at least a half-time basis and are eligible for the
Federal Pell Grant and who are majoring in physical, life, or
computer sciences, mathematics, technology, or engineering or
in a foreign language determined critical to national security.
The student must also be enrolled in the courses necessary to

Application Deadline – May 1
Must be in the top 5 percent of high school
class, have a 3.5 GPA or higher, and have a
combined SAT score of 1150 or an ACT score
of 25 or above.
