Minority Business Development Agency – The MBDA
at the U.S. Department of Commerce is the only federal
agency dedicated to advancing the establishment and growth
of minority-owned firms in the United States. Through a
network of minority business centers and strategic partners,
MBDA works with minority entrepreneurs who wish to grow
their businesses in size, scale and capacity. These firms are
then better positioned to create jobs, impact local economies
and expand into national and global markets. MBDA has
spent more than four decades increasing the competitiveness
of minority firms.

National Association for the Self-Employed – The
National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE) awards
Business Development Grants to help members stock their
stores with inventory, purchase new equipment, kick off
marketing campaigns and more. These grants provide stimulus
funds to micro-business members.
Pennsylvania Open for Business – This resource gives
entrepreneurs access to business information. Entrepreneurs
can explore financial options, download many of the
important forms necessary to start and expand a business,
and electronically register a business with the Pennsylvania
Departments of Labor and Industry, Revenue, and State.

Small Business Development Centers – The SBA helps
fund SBDCs across the country to provide management
assistance to current and prospective small business owners.
SBDCs offer assistance to individuals and small businesses
by providing a wide variety of information and guidance in
central and easily accessible branch locations. The SBDCs also
make special efforts to reach minority members of socially
and economically disadvantaged groups, veterans, women and

The Enterprise Center – Founded in 1989 by the Wharton
Small Business Development Center, The Enterprise Center
provides access to capital, building capacity, business
education and economic development opportunities to highpotential,
minority entrepreneurs. Through our portfolio of
business-acceleration initiatives, TEC seeks to better position
