development, demonstration, dissemination, evaluation, and
assessment activities aimed at improving the quality and
effectiveness of career and technical education
Arts in Education (CFDA No. 85.351) – To provide
competitive grants that support the integration of the arts
into the elementary and secondary school curriculum, with
particular focus on improving the academic achievement of
low-income students.

FEDERAL PROGRAMS
International Research and Studies (CFDA No. 84.017)
– To improve foreign language, area, and other international
studies training through support of research, studies,
experimentation, development of specialized instructional
materials, and the publication of specialized materials
developed as a result of research conducted under this
program. Applicant Eligibility: Individuals, institutions of
higher education, local and state education agencies, nonprofit
organizations and other public and private organizations may
apply.
Charter Schools (CFDA No. 84.282) – Program supports
the planning, development, and initial implementation of
charter schools and the dissemination of information on
charter schools. Charter schools provide enhanced parental
choice and are exempt from many statutory and regulatory
requirements. In exchange for this increased flexibility,
charter schools establish plans to improve student academic
achievement and to stimulate the creativity and commitment
of teachers, parents, and the public.
Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education
(CFDA No. 84.116) – To provide assistance for innovative
programs that improve access to and the quality of
postsecondary education. Applicant Eligibility: Institutions
of Higher Education (IHEs) and nonprofit organizations may
apply.
