Abington Foundation – The trustees have identified two
age groups, within the broad category of education, on which
they plan to focus a significant portion of the foundation’s
resources over the next few years. These areas represent
critical periods in a child’s development: the early years,
from birth to age 5, when major brain development occurs;
and early adolescence, ages 10-15, when important education,
career and lifestyle decisions are made. Trustees welcome
grant requests that address the educational needs of these two
age groups. The primary program areas include the following:
education, health care, economic independence, and cultural
activities.
Alfred P. Sloan Foundation – Areas of interest: Science and
Technology, Standard of Living and Economic Performance,
Education and Careers in Science and Technology, Selected
National Issues, The Civic Program.
Andrea Cavitolo Foundation – The mission of the
foundation is to support children’s medical and educational
causes, as well as services for the elderly. Founded in 1995 the
foundation supports organizations which provide services and
resources to vulnerable children, students, and low-income
senior citizens.
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation – The foundation currently
makes grants in five core program areas: Higher Education
and Scholarship; Scholarly Communications and Information
Technology; Museums and Art Conservation; Performing Arts;
Conservation and the Environment.
Bread & Roses Community Fund – A unique gathering of
activists committed to supporting social justice by raising and
distributing funds. A public foundation, Bread & Roses has
distributed over $9 million to groups working for access to
health care; economic justice; a clean, safe environment; civil
and human rights; peace; and other social justice issues. In
addition, they provide services, like technical assistance and
leadership development, to grantees and donors. After 30 years
of supporting change not charity, Bread & Roses remains
committed to providing technical and financial resources to
the voices of progressive activism.

is generally limited to supporting taxexempt
