energy causes the collagen fibres in the skin’s dermis to
contract and tighten. It also promotes the production of
new collagen at the site. This results in a skin tightening
and rejuvenating effect, helping smooth the skin for

Following treatment with Vaser Lipo, compression
garments are generally worn for six weeks post-operatively.
This helps reduce swelling and bruising, normalise healing

What is Vaser Smooth?

ultrasound energy, conducted through a specialised probe,
to emulsify undesired fat and sever the fibrous bands that
cause the dimpling in cellulite. By liquefying fat cells, and
then cutting loose those uneven fibres, the contour is

Dr Murray has achieved effective results in cellulite and
fat reduction using Vaser Smooth. ‘Vaser Smooth works
very well especially for the front and back thigh,’ he says.
‘The focused ultrasound energy disrupts the fibrous bands,
and at least 50 percent clearance is easily achieved.’
Vaser Smooth also uses tumescent fluid to assist in fat
emulsification and achieve even, consistent results. Small
incisions are used to deliver the probe into the subcutaneous
fatty tissue. Dr Murray says common side effects following
treatment include bruising and swelling, and results will vary
between patients.
‘Tumescent anaesthesia is used alongside sedation,’
he explains ‘There is more bruising following treatment
than usually seen after tumescent liposuction. A Vaser
Smooth patient must be realistic, and looking for
improvement not perfection.’

Liposuction can be performed alongside Vaser Smooth,
for more noticeable fat reduction results. The best
candidates for Vaser Smooth are of a relatively normal
weight, with isolated pockets of fat within the uneven,
fibrous bands.
‘My typical Vaser Smooth patient is female in her 20s to
30s, but men with cellulite are always very keen to reduce
this condition,’ Dr Murray explains. ‘Vaser Smooth patients
are often slim with isolated problem areas, however slightly
overweight people are also very interested.’
