Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)
Loose or sagging skin of the upper eyelid can detract from
the eye’s aesthetic contour and, in severe cases, obstruct
vision. Similarly, excess fatty deposits under the eyelid, or
heavy bags under the eyes, can add years to the face,
contributing to a tired, drawn appearance. Blepharoplasty
is a surgery designed to improve the appearance of the
upper or lower eyelids – or both – by excising excess skin,
and tightening the surrounding tissue.
During blepharoplasty, incisions are made along the
natural skin creases of the upper or lower eyelids. This
helps reduce the appearance of post-operative scarring,
as the scars will be hidden within the skin lines. In lower
eyelid surgery, the fat is cut away from the directly beneath
the eyelid. In upper eyelid surgery, the skin above the eye
is reshaped and excess skin is removed, reducing the
appearance of a “double eyelid” or hanging eyelid skin.
Brow Lift
As dermal collagen depletes and the skin’s elasticity
weakens, fine lines, deeper furrows and slackened
skin can give the brow a heavy, aged look. Indeed,
the forehead is one of the first areas to exhibit signs
of ageing, and brow-lifting surgery can be effective
in raising, tightening and returning youthfulness to
the area.
There are several options in brow lift surgery.
Endoscopic surgery signifies the least invasive
approach; it uses a scope to lift and tighten the
forehead tissue via several small incisions just behind
the hairline. Alternatively, a longer incision, along or
behind the hairline, affords greater surgical access
and can help lower the hairline to better improve facial
balance and harmony.
Fillers
Restoring lost volume around the eyes can reduce the
appearance of bags and hollowness. In certain cases, fillers
can be effective in refreshing the eye area and granting a
more alert appearance. Fillers under the eye can help
counter the appearance of dark circles, and a small amount
of filler in the upper eyelid can effectively reduce hollowness.
Filler under the eye can be partnered with filler in the upper
cheek for a more holistic rejuvenation.
Anti-wrinkle injections
Fine lines and crow’s feet can detract from an
otherwise youthful appearance, and the use of
anti-wrinkle injections around the eye area can act
as both an anti-ageing and preventative measure.
These injectables work by temporarily paralysing
the underlying muscles to reduce the appearance
of dynamic wrinkles – or wrinkles that occur due
to facial expression. Anti-wrinkle injections can be
placed under and around the eye to help combat fine
lines, crow’s feet and deeper furrows.
Cosmetic Tattooing
Cosmetic eyebrow and eyeliner tattooing can help revitalise
the eye area for striking, permanent and youthful-looking
results. Eyebrow tattooing can encompass the whole
brow, or simply thicken the ends of tapering brows. Solid
colour, subtle shading and feathered patterns can be used
to achieve the best results, depending on the patient.
Eyeliner tattoos can be applied on the upper and lower lash
line, and blue or green ink is often applied above the black
to emphasise natural eye colour for the most aesthetically
pleasing results.
