Legend has it that Orlova, like any other woman of her day, wanted to look well and keep herself in good physical condition but had too
little time to do any sports. To make up for this, she always asked the hotel staff to place the telephone atop her wardrobe. With many
incoming calls for the actress, the phone rang incessantly meaning she would have to run to the wardrobe, step up on a stool, answer the
call, and then step down again. Orlova likely performed this same exercise dozens of times during the day.
