Море и пляжи
Море вокруг острова действительно необыкновенно чистое
и поражает глубокой неповторимой синевой. Только на
Санторини можно найти красные, белые и черные пляжи
в окружении причудливых скал, напоминающих то ли
лунный, то ли марсианский пейзаж. Кстати, черные пляжи
Перисса и Камари отмечены голубыми флагами, ежегодно
присуждаемыми за чистоту воды и берега.
Дышащий вулкан
Фактически Санторини является самым крупным в мире
действующим морским вулканом. На островке Неа Камени
можно даже увидеть кратеры, а характерный запах серы
и дымок в некоторых местах дают понять, что вулкан не
спит. Между лавовыми островами в море бьют горячие источники,
купание в которых считается полезным благодаря
высокой концентрации марганца и железа.
Sea and Beaches
Without doubt the sea around Santorini is unusually clear and
impressively blue, but only here can one find beaches of red, white
and black sand encircled by breathtaking cliffs that resemble the
lunar landscapes. Importantly for swimmers and water sports
enthusiasts, the black-sand beaches of Perissa and Kamari have
earned the EU’s Blue Flag status, assigned annually for the cleanness
of water and shore.
A Living Volcano
To this day Santorini is still considered the largest active marine
volcano in the world. Venture out to the island of Nea Kameni to see
volcanic craters, with the smell of sulphur and noxious fumes occasionally
emanating from the ground to remind visitors that the earth
remains very active underfoot. Many locals swim in the thermal
springs found between islets in the sea, which they deem useful for
human health due to local concentrations of manganese and iron.
