A new dependent variable can be added to future research in order to measure memory. The
current study used free recall to measure memory, whereas in future research we can use a four-point
recognition system in which the participant is asked to pick the image that has or has not been previously
shown to them. In the example below, you can see how the four-point recognition system would appear to
the participants.

This type of dependent variable would much be easier to score than current free recall measures
and could provide valuable information about normal versus bizarre scenes. It is very unclear what type of
results may be collected from these experiments, as there has not been much work in this specific area. This
will be a long process, but is expected to lead to some very interesting and insightful results.
