A mobile-based self-assessment is the Reisman Diagnostic

Creativity Assessment (RDCA) . The RDCA is a free Apple
application that may be downloaded to an iPhone, iPad or
iTouch via iTunes. The RDCA is built upon 11 creativity
factors, shown in Table 3, that are most prevalent in the
research literature as representative of creative thinking. The
RDCA is built upon the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking

(TTCT) , which in turn stems from Guilford's creativity

research . The TTCT remains the most widely used test of
creativity and the most referenced of all creativity tests.
However, it must be scored by trained evaluators, takes two
hours for administration, focuses on prediction of creative
performance, and is costly.
The RDCA may be self - scored, takes about 10 minutes to
complete, and at this point in time is free. This is a self-report
Likert-type assessment designed to be used diagnostically to
identify one's creative strengths, rather than to predict
creativity. The RDCA assesses an individual's self-perception
on 11 major creativity factors. The results may be used to
determine which factors already are strong, which factors one
personally wishes to strengthen, which they are satisfied with,
and which are most important for strengthening their
creativity through selected exercises.
You can decide if you wish to strengthen an area by practice.
For example, to increase fluency, practice generating many
scenarios, such as brainstorming possible drug trial outcomes,
identifying possible contraindications, etc., within a short
timeframe such as three minutes. To increase flexibility,
generate many categories of possible trial techniques, such as
realigning the trial expectations, reallocating resources, or
redefining success. To increase originality, practice coming up
with many possible trial scenarios, based on the trial research
to date. To increase elaboration, add detail to possible
resolutions.

The RDCA is electronically scored and you may email
yourself your results. The 11 creativity factors assessed and
their definitions are shown in Table 3.

Ÿ Making new and original connections among pharma
products and diseases;
Ÿ Interacting with patients;
Ÿ Dealing with challenges resulting from patents expiring
and generic drugs flooding the market;
Ÿ Pharmacoeconomics of a new drug; and
Ÿ Investigation of stem cell biology whereby small molecules
that target cancer stem cells may lead to a potential cancer
therapy innovation including pan-active compounds such
as some kinase inhibitors.
