Mission. The ASSTSAS is a joint, sector-based association<br />

dedicated to promoting occupational health and safety prevention<br />

and supporting health and social service sector workers<br />

and institutions through consulting services, as well as through<br />

information, training and research and development activities,<br />

to implement preventive measures designed to:<br />

– identify and eliminate health and safety hazards at the source,<br />

in order to preserve the physical and psychological integrity <strong>of</strong><br />

workers;<br />

– optimize working conditions to improve the health and workplace<br />

quality <strong>of</strong> life <strong>of</strong> workers, while promoting productivity<br />

and taking into account the safety <strong>of</strong> the institutional clientele.<br />

JOINT STRUCTURE AND FUNDING. The ASSTSAS is a non-pr<strong>of</strong>it<br />

organization. It is managed through a general meeting and by a<br />

board <strong>of</strong> directors that includes an equal number <strong>of</strong> representatives<br />

from labour and management associations in the sector. It is<br />

primarily funded through premiums collected from all employers<br />

in the health and social service sector.<br />
