green all year and does not become dormant in the winter<br />

Compare and contrast deciduous and evergreen trees<br />

Define and use new words, such as evergreen, from the readaloud<br />

and the discussion about “Evergreen Trees” (RI.K.4)<br />

Describe an image of a forest of deciduous and evergreen trees<br />

in “Evergreen Trees,” using the image to check and support<br />

comprehension of the read-aloud (RI.K.7)<br />

Orally compare and contrast deciduous trees (from the previous<br />

read-aloud) and evergreen trees (from this read-aloud) (RI.K.9)<br />

Actively engage in the nonfiction/informational read-aloud<br />
