Force and Motion
BeeSpi “V” Speed Measuring Tool
With the push of a button accurately measure
the velocity of small objects. Ideal for use in
experimental tests of speed and acceleration.
BeeSpi detects an object passing through two
points about 40 mm apart via built-in photosensors
and indicates the velocity of the
object in digital form. Infrared sensors located
at two spots on the inside wall of the unit
detect the time when the object passes each
spot, and the velocity of the object, calculated
from the time difference, is indicated. Also
measures lap time as basic feature, and the use
of two BeeSpi units allow acceleration to be
determined. Grades 3-12. Sh. wt. 0.17 kgs.
SB47275M — $65.75
Centripetal Force Kit
Use to show the effect of mass, radius, and velocity
on the centripetal force of a rotating body.
The experiment uses the weight of one to twenty
1 g masses from one end of a cord as a counterweight
to the pull of a rubber weight swinging
in a circle overhead. Includes handle, sturdy
cord, rubber weight, 20 masses, and instructions.
Grades 7-12. Sh. wt. 0.63 lbs.
SB46995M — $13.65
Acceleration Timer (DC)
A battery-operated timer designed for portability;
can easily be clamped to a bench top or ring stand
for recording objects of varying speeds. Slow the
motor speed down to one half speed by inserting the
enclosed aluminum rod in place of one battery. Useful
for measuring small changes in velocity. Includes
assembled motorized striker, carbon discs, ticker tape,
aluminum rod, and instructions. Operates on two 1.5V
“D” batteries (not included). Sh. wt. 0.51 kgs.
SB19009M — $41.60
USB Timing Interface and Photogate
This computer timing interface provides efficiency and automation in the collection
of timing data while maintaining those data in their raw form.
It is designed to connect up to two photogates or other
logic-level switches to any Windows ® PC via USB.
The included timer software records rising and
falling-edge events in an easily exportable
table. The interface’s electronics and statusindicating
LEDs are housed in impact-resistant
machined ABS. The included photogate has
a self-contained LED light source and a wellshielded
silicon photodiode
as a detector. The electronics are housed in an
impact-resistant ABS plastic module which contains three orthogonal mounting points
for attachment of the included ring stand bar. The photogate is also compatible with
other timing systems employing a
1⁄4" stereo TTL input. Sh. wt. 3.50 lbs.
SB48439M— $159.80
Digital Velocity Speed Gun
Point-and-shoot digital speed gun accurately measures speeds
of objects in motion. Great for physical science/math correlations.
Dozens of applications. Large LCD screen. Speeds +/- 1.0
mph; measure a baseball at 90 ft.; measure a vehicle up to 1300
ft. Sh. wt. 1.31 lbs.
SB44701M — $165.75
SELLER
Complete Precision Air Table
A unique recording system allows quantitative measurements in experiments covering
topics such as Newton’s laws, conversion from potential to kinetic energy, centripetal
force, harmonic action, motion in two dimensions, oscillations, and collisions. A spark
generator delivers a spark from the centre of the bottom of each puck at one of six
frequencies. The spark leaves a mark on recording paper placed on the table, leaving a
record of each puck’s location in preset time intervals. The spark source can be operated
from 60Hz standard 110V line at one of six rates: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 100 milliseconds
between sparks. Air is supplied through the actual puck via flexible tubing. Includes an
air table, air compressor, aluminum support for air hoses, air supply hose, a spark generator,
two steel pucks (550g each), one puck weight, Velcro adhesive puck collars, two
springs, plastic table pins for securing springs, one orbital post with suction cup, two
wire collars with hooks for securing pucks to each other or to masses, a pulley which
can be attached to the air table for suspending a mass, 100 sheets of recording paper, 1
sheet of carbon paper, and an instruction manual with suggested experiments.
1186M — $2,095.00
1188M Replacement Carbon Paper, pkg. of 10 sheets — $139.95
1189M Replacement Carbon Paper, 1 sheet — $15.75
1190M Replacement Recording Paper, pkg. of 100 sheets — $15.75
Newton’s 2 nd Law of Motion Apparatus
Study the free fall and projectile motion of objects. When
the spring activated trigger is released, one ball falls down
and the other is fired like a projectile. But both hit the
ground at the same time. Comes complete with two balls
( 3 ⁄4" dia.) and instructions. Apparatus measures 8 1 ⁄2" x 3" x
1" and has a recessed compartment to store balls. Sh. wt.
1.06 lbs.
SB43492M — $18.05
Photogate Timer
A piece of equipment that does a lot without
costing a lot. Features seven functions
including single photogate mode, dual
photogate mode, collision mode,
acceleration mode, gravity acceleration
mode, period (cycle) mode, and
count mode. Functions have up to
20 data points stored in memory
for recall, allowing you to watch an
experiment as it happens and perform
calculations after the fact. Measures
time to 0.0001 seconds. Includes two
photogates, magnetic ball release,
and instructions. Runs on AC adapter or
rechargeable batteries (not included). Grades
8-12. Sh. wt. 22 lbs.
