TETRIX Intelligent
Control Activity Pack
When used with the TETRIX Intelligent
Control Software, the TETRIX
Intelligent Control Activity Pack will
engage your students by having them
navigate their robot through various
obstacle courses on a mat by making
sense of the live sensor readings updating
via Bluetooth on the graph computer
display. The activity pack comes
in a three-ring binder and includes four
activities that provide a scaffold for
students to familiarize themselves with
joystick remote-controlled navigation,
as well as understand a physical
environment through only light and
ultrasound sensor data. Each activity
requires 30 minutes of teacher preparation
time and one to two hours of
implementation and offers open-ended
extensions, allowing students to push
the limits of both the robot and software application. A CD-ROM with a PDF of all of
the activities and worksheets is also included. Computers with Bluetooth capability,
TETRIX and MINDSTORMS® Education Starter Set, and TETRIX Intelligent Control
Software are all required for the activity pack and sold separately.
Soft-
The TETRIX Intelligent Control Software is a stand-alone
application that allows students to remotely control a TETRIX vehicle and gather
real-time sensor data within a graph display on a computer. Students can use a
Logitech joystick controller with USB connection to the computer and uniquely assign
joystick button functionality to control a TETRIX robot built with the NXT. The
application is capable of controlling the TETRIX DC motors and NXT motors, as well
as reading values of the light, sound, and ultrasonic sensors. With all motor control
and sensor readings performed over Bluetooth, this application allows students to
have their TETRIX robot explore an environment unseen from the base computer,
thus simulating a real-world, remote-controlled robot mission! This software is Mac
OS X, Windows XP, and Vista compatible.
1606M — $57.95
TETRIX Intelligent Control Software and Site Licence
The site licence allows for the installation of the software on all computers at a single
school or institution.
1608M — $219.95
Engineering with LabVIEW:
High School Robotics Activities
This activity set features a series of 10 progressive
building and programming units that introduce
students to LabVIEW Education Edition with LEGO®
MINDSTORMS® NXT and TETRIX by Pitsco. With these
activities, students put the engineering design process
into practice in an assistive robotics theme, providing
real-world scenarios and open-ended challenges
perfect for any high school engineering, technology or
robotics class. Delivery of the activities is flexible - all
necessary resources are included to facilitate either a
teacher-led or student-centric delivery method. In addition
to a printed teacher guide, included are separate
teacher and student CD-ROMS. The student CD features
an interactive interface that enable easy access to
printable worksheets and quizzes, instructional videos
that walk students through programming in LabVIEW
Education Edition, and a toolbox that includes a parts
library, glossary and more. The teacher CD includes
all of these items plus answer keys and programming
solutions, assessment rubrics, robot building
instructions, and digital versions of teacher notes.
These activities provide a minimum of 30 hours of class
time and include extension ideas to expand the use
of the hardware and software. Required are LabVIEW
Education Edition seats for each student computer,
and more! Carnegie
Mellon Robotics Academy
classroom-tested
curriculum is used in
thousands of schools.
Now, the Robotics
Academy introduces a feature-rich product designed
to support teachers and students who use the TETRIX
robotics platform and ROBOTC C-based programming
language. This multimedia CD-ROM product uses a
scaffolded approach to introduce students to the TET-
RIX control system. Lessons are included for both the
LEGO® MINDSTORMS® and TETRIX robotics systems,
which both use the NXT Intelligent Brick controller.
This enables teachers who use both systems in their
classrooms to offer a variety of projects. The curriculum
includes a combination of programming lessons for
ROBOTC, engineering challenges, helper pages, and
more than 300 pages of instructional materials in a
PDF file to support students. This product is a perfect
