NXT Robotics Engineering II: Guided Research
The second in the new series of LEGO ® MINDSTORMS ® Education NXT curriculum,
this more advanced CD-based curriculum provides 12 weeks of guided research
and applied engineering robotics projects. When used after students complete the
730106 Robotics Engineering I Curriculum, teachers have a full 18-week robotics
course. The Robotics Engineering II Curriculum focuses on applied inquiry, motivated
design, communications technology, scanning, mapping, and more. Using the Engineering
Design Inquiry process, the activities on this CD cover STEM topics. This two-
CD set includes a student CD and a teacher CD. The teacher CD includes tips, notes,
standards addressed, assessment rubrics, and more. The student CD provides great
interactive instruction complete with video tutorials, building instructions, programming
assistance, and much, much more! The CD curriculum can be loaded onto every
computer at a single school or institution. Developed at Carnegie Mellon University.
Logging Activity Pack
This activity pack gives you four real-life science
activities and one research project providing up to
25 hours of instruction. The activities are divided into
four themes: Motion, Light and Colour, Heat Transfer
and Sound. The research project covers solar heating.
Developed by Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics
Academy, it includes video clips, worksheets and
teacher introduction materials. NXT Temperature Sensor
and NXT Software v.2.0 are required.
Renewable Energy
Add-on Set
The Renewable Energy Add-on Set enables
your students to explore energy concepts
with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education.
They experiment using energy from their
own bodies and the three main energy
sources — solar, wind and water — to
generate, store and use power. When
connected to the NXT Brick, the unique elements
of the renewable Energy Add-on Set
(solar panel, generator, and LEGO Energy
Meter) work as sensors. Ages 8+.
1135M — $114.95
MINDSTORMS® Energy Parts Pack
The MINDSTORMS® Energy models require parts not used in the LEGO® MINDSTORMS®
Education Base Set and Renewable Energy Add-on Set. These parts are included in the
Education Resource Set, so please use those if you own them. If not, this pack has exactly
what you need to build the Wind Turbine and Solar Station. Ages 8+.
Teaching Robot C Curriculum
Gr. 10+ The Carnegie Mellon Robot C curriculum provides video-based instruction
supporting the programming of robotic behaviors for both the RCX and NXT.
Lessons are planned around one main robot model with additional components,
such as sensors, added as needed in the lessons. Building instructions are included
for the main robot. The curriculum is designed to place programming activities in
context with engineering challenges. The programming lessons are organized in topics:
Movement (9 main lessons i.e. motor synchronization, PID, positioning), Sensing
(16 lessons, i.e. setting thresholds and line tracking), Variables (13 lessons, i.e. functions
& parameters), Programming, Systems, and Advanced (open-ended engineering
challenges). Also includes a series of engineering extension activities! Curriculum can
be installed on every computer in a single classroom.
