Nature of Light & Colour
Rive Ray Box
Durably constructed with a rigid vinyl base and a metal box housing a transformer and
a high density light. An adjustable screen produces either one wide beam or a choice
of 1, 2, 3 or 5 slit beams. For lenses and mirrors use the Optic Set (43004SS). Operates
on 115V AC and comes with a 3-wire cord and plug. CSA approved. Instructions for 15
experiments.
43000SS — $129.95
43002SS Replacement Slotted Screens — $1.95
43005SS Colour Filter Set — $17.95
43001SS Replacement Bulb — $3.95
Nasco’s SciQuest ® Intermediate Level Multi-Group Kit — Light
Specific concepts investigated relate to: how we see opaque and transparent objects;
properties of transparent, opaque, and reflective materials; black, white, and colour
formation; reflection of light, images formed by reflection, reversal of images formed in
a plane mirror; and properties of convex lenses, determination of focal length, formation
of real images, and the “pinhole” lens effect. Grades 4—9.
Rive Box Optic Set
Includes a double convex lens, double
concave lens and convex, concave and
plane mirrors.
43004SS — $39.95
11 Investigations: Typically a minimum
of nine class sessions required to
complete all activities. Teacher’s guide
included.
Sh. wt. 17 lbs.
SB16723M — $191.00
Teacher’s Guide.
Sh. wt. 0.63 lbs.
Colour Mixing Demonstration
This self-contained unit is perfect for
demonstrating color mixing with the addition
of the three primary colors: red, blue,
and green. The brightness of the three
colors can be controlled by individual
switches. Hundreds of color combinations
are possible. Measures 4-1⁄8" L x 3-1⁄8" W
x 4-1⁄4" H with a 3" screen. Requires three
“AA” batteries (not included) or connection
to a power supply. Sh. wt. 0.63 lbs.
SB47548M— $49.40
Reflect-View
An excellent aid for teaching the basics of geometry, including axes of symmetry, reflections,
transformations, and congruence. For all grades from primary to high school.
Made of red plastic.
1800M Each — $1.95
1799M Set of 100 — $189.95 GREAT VALUE!
Colour Paddles
Transparent 6" paddles in six colours
with three textures demonstrate the
principles of colour mixing. Set of 18.
Grades 3—6. Sh. wt. 0.23 kgs.
9712420M — $9.50
6 or more — $9.22 ea.
Acrylic Colour Filters
High-quality acrylic filters in red, green, and blue.
Ideal for use with the overhead projector to demonstrate
that the colour of a material depends
upon the colour of the light it is capable of reflecting,
and the colour of the light incident upon its
surface. For example, a material which appears to
be red when illuminated by light from the red filter
will appear to be black when illuminated by light
from the green or blue filter. Sh. wt. 0.06 kgs.
SB14384M — $4.05
Newton’s Colour Disc
For demonstrating that white light is composed
of the seven colours of the spectrum by rotating
a disc with the seven colours. The seven-coloured
metal disc is attached to a pulley mounted on a
metal stand driven by a belt with the help of a
hand driven wheel. Sh. wt. 1.36 kgs.
SB45057M — $39.60
Colour Wheel Kit
What does it mean when you describe a rose as
red or the field around you as green? Help your
students “see the light” with this classic colour
wheel. All the colours of the rainbow are literally
blended together as the wheel is set to spinning. 9"
dia. wheel contains four distant quadrants, each with
violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red
wedges, in that order. A black plastic handle attaches
to the center of the wheel, which can be set to spinning
with an included cord. At rest, the wheel consists
of separate colours. Is this still true when it's in motion?
The colours remain, of course, but the wheel is
turning too fast for your eyes to keep the reflected
colours separate. Grades 6—12. Sh. wt. 2.19 lbs.
SB43525M — $33.05
