Setting up general properties<br />

In the General tab, type a name and description for the data server, and<br />

specify the name of the computer that will host the data server.<br />

Name Type a name for the data server. This name will appear in the<br />

Application Explorer. The name cannot include dashes or hyphens (–).<br />

Description Type a description for the data server. For example, the<br />

description can consist of the server’s location, the name of a contact<br />

person or number to contact in case of failure, or version information.<br />

Computer hosting the RSLinx Enterprise server Type the name of<br />

the computer on which the RSLinx Enterprise data server is running.<br />

To browse for the name of the computer, click the Browse button.<br />

redundancy<br />

To minimize disruptions to clients if the primary data server fails, set<br />

up a redundant data server. In <strong>RSView</strong>, the redundant server is called<br />

the secondary server.<br />
