Coordinators. About 88 Coordinators
participated in the meeting and interacted on
various activities.
• The Annual meeting of Coordinators of AVIs
(Vocational) was conducted at SIEMAT
Allahabad on 22.02.2011. Prof. P.K. Sahoo,
and Dr. Nalini Srivastava, Associate Professor,
addressed the gathering of Coordinators. About
60 Coordinators participated in the meeting and
took part in the discussions.
• Tele-Orientation/Tele-Conferencing
programmes conducted by NIOS Headquarters
with the help of EMPC IGNOU were received
at Lucknow, Aligarh, Varanasi and Allahabad
on various dates.
• An Orientation Programme for Science Tutors
was organised at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Old
Cantonment. Allahabad on 10.02.11 &
11.02.2011. About 21 participants took part
in the orientation programme. Eminent scholars
in Education, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
from University of Allahabad guided and
interacted with the participants.
• Hindi Pakhwara was organized at Regional
Centre, Allahabad from 14 th September, 2010
to 28 th September, 2010. Various competitions
like quiz, Recitation (kavita path), storytelling
were organised at Regional Centre, Allahabad.
All regional centre staff members participated
in the competition. Prize distribution ceremony
was held on 29 th September, 2010.
8.2.2 Bhopal
• Advocacy Programme for Muslim Minority
Institutions
An advocacy Programme for Madarsas was
organised by the NIOS on 29 th January, 2011
at Bhopal. Hon’ble Minister for Urban
Administration, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Shri
Babulalji Gaur was the Chief Guest of the
programme.
Shri G.G. Saxena, Secretary, NIOS, Dr.
Sushmita Mitra, Director (SSS), Ms. Anita
Nair, AD(SSS), Ms. Gopa Biswas, Joint
Director (Academic), spoke on different aspects
of NIOS programmes and policies.
Prof. Halim Khan, Ex-Chairman, Madhya
Pradesh Madarsa Board, Shri Kulwant Singh,
Member, M.P. Minorities commission, Moulana
Hafiz Sahib, Ex-Chairman, Masajid Committee
and Member M.P. Madarsa Board & Maulana
Mateen, Member, M.P. Madarsa Board were
also present in the meeting.
This Advocacy programme helped in increase
in number of AIs and AVIs and enrolment in
Madarsas.
Regional Centre Advisory Committee (RCAC)
Meeting
The Meeting of RCAC was held on 18 th March, 2011
at NIOS Regional Centre, Bhopal.
Some of the agenda points discussed in the meeting
were:-
• Periodic monitoring of the Study Centres and
examination centres;
• Distribution of the AIs and AVIs in the districts
where enrolment is low;
• Enhancement in the enrolment in the
Vocational courses of NIOS;
• Fixation of examination centres for April-2011
examination;
• Review of the panel of Academic Facilitators
(AFs) and district wise status;
• Strategies to associate new AFs with the
Regional Centre;
• Review of the status of accreditation of new
centres;
• Review of the Educationally Backward
Blocks (EBBs) in the Regional Centre and the
strategies to setup new centres in the EBBs.
Cluster Meeting of Coordinators of AIs and
AVIs of NIOS
The scheduled cluster meeting of coordinators of AIs
and AVIs of NIOS was held on 18 th February, 10 th
March and 14 th March, 2011 at Bhopal, Jabalpur
and Gwalior.
The Regional Centre got to hear the problems of the
coordinators and the issues were sorted out
immediately.
