8.2.6 Guwahati
Academic
• Translation work of Secondary Courses into
Assamese language has been initiated.
Promotional
• May I Help You Counter to facilitate the
learners for Admission/Examination set up.
• Co-ordinator Meeting of AIs and AVI’s was
held on 16 th March, 2011.
• For promotion of vocational courses several
meetings have been organised with the help of
Rotary club, Assam.
• Letter to all directorate of ITI’s have been sent
to instruct the ITI’s of North East to apply for
being AVIs of NIOS.
• Process for setting up the State Open School in
Meghalaya was initiated. A meeting was held
between Dr. S.S. Jena, Chairman, NIOS and
Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of
Meghalaya.
8.2.7 Jaipur
• Tutor Training Programme for AEP Unit was
organised from September 17-19, 2010.
• The Orientation Programme for Science Tutors
of NIOS was organised in Jaipur for two days
23-24 th February, 2011.
• The meeting of co-ordinators of AI and AVIs
was held on 10 th March, 2011 at Ahmedabad
and on 16 th March, 2011 at Jaipur.
8.2.8 Kochi
Student Support Services
• 31 study centres have been newly accredited
during this period. Total number of study centres
rose to 391 against the previous total of 360.
• The region registered an annual increase of 15%
(rounded) in the academic enrolment over
previous year.
Other Activities
• Tele-Orientation programmes for Coordinators/
Academic Facilitators and tutors of AIs have
been received from time to time as per the
schedule provided by National Institute of Open
Schooling Headquarters, Noida.
• A library in the Regional Centre, Guwahati was
set up and books as per the list provided by
NIOS, Headquarters were purchased.
• On Demand examination hall got ready.
• LCD projector with screen installed in auditorium
for better presentation of Tele-conferencing
programme.
• DTH dish antenna installed for Gyan Darshan
telecast for NIOS learners.
• Enrolment increased by 18.96% in comparison
to last year.
• A meeting was organised with DC, Kamrup
Metro to provide at least 2/3 acres of land inside
the city to build permanent premises of this
Regional Centre.
Cluster AI Coordinators meeting
• A facilitation counter for online registration was
operated from August, 2010 at the Regional
Centre. The facilitation counter was functional
on holidays including Sundays during 1 st August
to 10 th September and during February, 2011.
50 Facilitation Centres in different AIs were
functional all over the region. Functioning of
facilitation counters has been given wide
publicity by press releases and banner.
Basic Literacy Assessment
• NLMA examinations held in Tamilnadu on 20/
8/2010 (in five districts, 69 Blocks and 2091
Villages) have been monitored by engaging 41
observers.
