The Crisman Institute has made great strides in growing and building the petroleum engineering department’s research program. Since 2005, the Crisman Institute has funded a total of 184 projects of which 139 are complete. For the Spring 2010 semester, we had a total of 319 graduate students. We had 117 graduate research assistant positions during that time and Crisman funded 31 of them. Some of the research we have conducted through Crisman has allowed us to develop software and databases that can be used by industry. An additional benefit companies have experienced is the opportunity to become familiar with our students and their research which has often led companies to hire them post graduation. Through the support of industry, the Crisman Institute and the department are making an impact on our students, research, and industry. We intend to report even more successes in 2010. Membership History The Crisman Institute began operation in its current format on January 1, 2005. At the end of 2005, we had three endowed members, four institute members and six center members. The Institute maintained these membership categories until January 1, 2007. Since the beginning of 2007, we eliminated the center memberships and all companies now belong to the entire Crisman Institute. As such, all member companies have the rights to use all the results from all the projects sponsored by Crisman.
