Energy-Saving Pumps
Control mode p-T
In the p-T control mode (programmable only with the IR-Monitor)
the electronics circuitry varies the setpoint differential pressure value
to be maintained by the pump as a function of the measured fluid
temperature. This control mode can be applied in conjunction with
constant-volume (e.g. one-pipe) systems and variable-flow systems
with modulating feed temperature control. Conversely, the p-T
control mode supports condensing-boiler technology, provided the
pump is installed in the return pipe of the system.
Measurement of an electronic pump with automatic setback mode
The patented setback feature, by means of fuzzy control, further
optimises the power input requirements of the pump during periods
of low-load demand for heating systems. During periods where there
is no pump performance (e.g. reduction of feed temperature by
weather-/time-prompted heating controller) the pump performance
is set back to a reduced constant speed.
This operating mode offers further savings of up to 25 % compared
with previous stepless heating circulating pumps.
The manual control mode deactivates the control in the electronics
module. The pump speed can be manually set to a constant value
between 800 and 2,800 1/min.
BA linkup
Wilo-TOP-E/-ED pumps have standard series and optional interfaces
for connection to external monitoring units (e.g. DDC/BA).
Collective fault signal SSM
All Wilo-TOP-E/-ED Series pumps are equipped with a potential-free
contact (NC contact in accordance with VDI 3814) for collective fault
signalling. Contact rating
- min. permissible: 12 V DC, 10 mA,
- max. permissible: 250 V AC, 1 A.
Any fault, due to any one of the following causes, will be signalled by
the collective fault signal:
- motor overtemperature
- module overtemperature
- excess current draw
- blocking
- short circuit and fault to ground
A power failure or a total electronics breakdown will not be assessed
as such, the pump will restart automatically following restoration of
power.
Control input Overriding Off
To enable deactivation by external control units, Wilo-TOP-E/-ED
pumps are equipped with an “Ext. Aus” control input, starting with
a rated motor output of P 2 = 350 W. The control input received here
overrides all other control commands (contacts open: pump off).
Wilo-TOP-E/-ED pumps with lower rated outputs can be switched
off directly via the mains power cable.
