obliterated, yellow on <strong>the</strong> opposite side; sori subrotund, nearly<br />

plane, scattered, at leng^th confluent, on <strong>the</strong> under surface, surrounded<br />

by <strong>the</strong> ruptured epidermis ; spores globose, brown.—On<br />

leaves of Thistles, frequently covering <strong>the</strong> wliole under surface.<br />

Trichobasis Polygonorum, B. Knotgrass Rust ; spots<br />

red-yellow, widely effused; sori subrotuud, scattered, sometimes<br />

forming a ring, epidermis at length bursting ; spores somewhat<br />

obovate, brown.— On Polygonum, avieulare, amphibium^ and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

species. July to September. Common.<br />
