1. White Portland cement - 1 part<br />
2. Sand - 1-1/2 parts<br />
3. Add color additive to acquire the color of mortar approved by the supervising Engineer.<br />
4. Add water proofer<br />
Add integral waterproofing admixture to setting and pointing mortar in the quantity and manner<br />
recommended by the manufacturer.<br />
Generally, only approved mortar plasticiser shall be used in all mortars, unless otherwise instructed by the<br />
Supervising Engineer.<br />
4. Wall Grout<br />
Fine grout shall be mixed in the following proportions by volume all in accordance with ASTM C476:<br />
1. Portland Cement- 1 part<br />
2. Hydrated Lime - 0 .1 part<br />
3. Sand - 2.25-3 parts<br />
Coarse grout, where required, shall be mixed in the following proportions by volume, all in accordance<br />
with ASTM C479:<br />
a- Portland Cement - 1 part<br />
b- Hydrated Lime - 0.1 part<br />
c- Fine Aggregate - 2.25 parts<br />
d- Coarse Aggregate - 1-2 parts<br />
Use sufficient water to produce a fluid, pourable consistency.<br />
3. Mortar And Grout Mixing<br />
1- Mortar and grout shall be machine mixed. Cement and hydrated lime may be batched by the bag. Sand<br />
preferably shall be batched by weight, but subject to the approval of the Supervising Engineer may on<br />
certain small operations be batched by volume in suitably calibrated containers, provided proper allowance<br />
is made for weight per cubic foot, contained moisture, bulking and consolidation, shovel measurement shall<br />
not be used.<br />
2- Workability or consistency of mortar on the board shall be sufficiently wet to be worked under the<br />
trowel. Water for tempering shall be available on the scaffold at all times. Mortar and grout which has<br />
begun to "set" shall be discarded. Mortar and grout which has stiffened due to evaporation shall be<br />
retempered to restore its workablility. Retempering of mortar and grout at the mixer shall not be permitted.<br />
4. Setting of Extertior and Interior wall Stone<br />
1- All setting shall be done in accordance with the approved shop drawings. All work shall set in a rigid<br />
and substantial manner, straight and plumb, with all horizontal lines level and all vertical lines plumb,<br />
unless otherwise shown on the Drawings. Similar abutting profiles shall accurately intersect and be in true<br />
alignment. All joints shall be uniform and shall be of the size and detail shown on the approved Shop<br />
Drawings.<br />
2- Except as otherwise indicated and as herein specified. All anchoring devices shall be accurately set and<br />
adjusted. Holes and slots for anchoring devices shall be filled completely with mortar. Each stone shall be<br />
anchored securely in place.<br />
