1.3.2 <strong>2012</strong> Stakeholder’s Issues of Concern: Results<br />
The CSR Committee evaluates the degree to which stakeholders are concerned about the issues and the impact<br />
of such issues to the company’s operations. The results of the analysis indicate the important demands of the<br />
stakeholders and their expectations for <strong>UMC</strong>. As a result, prioritizing these issues of concern will become an important<br />
basis for the future planning of CSR practices.<br />

12 issues have been identified as high concern<br />
this year. “Sustainability strategy” is still the top<br />
concern. Other environment-related issues such<br />
as “Greenhouse gas emissions”, “Use of energy<br />
resources”, and “Use of water resources” are<br />
detailed in Chapter 3.<br />
The second highest issue is “Regulatory<br />
compliance”. <strong>UMC</strong> complies with all applicable<br />
regulations, and conducts continuous improvement<br />
beyond regulatory expectations, in line with<br />
standards that will be described in each chapter.<br />

“Risk management”, “Innovation management”,<br />
“<strong>Corporate</strong> governance”, and “Customer service”<br />
in economic dimensions are in Chapter 2.<br />
