provisi<strong>on</strong> is <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> enable governments <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> cooperate with each<br />

o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> enforce legislati<strong>on</strong>, mainly through exchange <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

informati<strong>on</strong>, such as data about dangerous products,<br />

inspecti<strong>on</strong>s and tests carried out in ano<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r Member State,<br />

low voltage electrical equipment, electromagnetic compatibility;<br />

equipment and protective systems intended for use in<br />

potentially explosive atmospheres; medical devices; gas<br />

appliances; pressure vessels; chemicals; civil explosives;<br />

machinery; mo<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r vehicles; recreati<strong>on</strong>al craft; and different<br />

quality c<strong>on</strong>trol instruments.<br />

dimensi<strong>on</strong>, <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> build mutual c<strong>on</strong>fidence between Member<br />

States’ administrati<strong>on</strong>s, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> permit cross-fertilisati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

ideas.<br />

The Commissi<strong>on</strong> decides, <strong>on</strong> an annual basis, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> priority<br />

areas for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Karolus programme. These have included<br />

c<strong>on</strong>formity testing and market supervisi<strong>on</strong>, and in particular<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> following sec<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs: <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ys; pers<strong>on</strong>al protective equipment;<br />

Regulati<strong>on</strong> (EEC) No 339/93 <strong>on</strong> checks for c<strong>on</strong>formity with<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> rules <strong>on</strong> product safety in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> case <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> products imported<br />

from third countries requires <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> cus<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ms authorities <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
