AEDs
The council Health & Safety Committee
recognizes the lifesaving capabilities of
Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in
emergency situations, and is placing AEDs at
major council camps and properties.
Extensive research was performed to select
an AED model that best suits the unique
needs of camps. The unit selected are able
to withstand shock, humidity, and temperature
fluctuations, and are capable of both
youth and adult rescue.
AEDs are being deployed at resident
camps, offices and long-term activities,
representing over $40,000 in lifesaving
equipment. Each AED costs about $2,000.
The council is investigating grants, but also
needs help to acquire full coverage for our
camps.
Individuals, troops, service clubs, and
other groups are invited to sponsor one or
more AEDs for camp properties. The Wauna
La-Mon’tay Lodge of Order of the Arrow
sponsored one AED, as did Troop 423 in Tigard.
These donations are a great help to
providing these emergency devices at highrisk
areas.
503.225.5744 or jhill@cpcbsa.org.
