<strong>AST</strong> Parametric Emerging Markets Equity <strong>Portfolio</strong><br />

The <strong>Portfolio</strong> is managed by a team of portfolio managers from Parametric. The members of the team are Thomas Seto and David<br />

Stein. Mr. Seto and Mr. Stein have managed the Eaton Vance Structured Emerging Markets Fund since March 1, 2007. Mr. Seto has<br />

been Vice President and Director of <strong>Portfolio</strong> Management at Parametric for more than five years. Mr. Stein has been Managing<br />

Director and Chief Investment Officer at Parametric for more than five years. They both have co-managed other Eaton Vance funds<br />

since 2005.<br />

<strong>AST</strong> PIMCO Limited Maturity Bond <strong>Portfolio</strong><br />

Saumil H. Parikh, CFA is a managing director in the Newport Beach office, generalist portfolio manager and a member of the<br />

PIMCO Investment Committee. He leads the firm’s cyclical economic forums and also serves as a member of the short-term,<br />

mortgage and global specialist portfolio management teams. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2000, Mr. Parikh was a financial<br />

economist and market strategist at UBS Warburg. He has 13 years of investment experience and holds undergraduate degrees in<br />

economics and biology from Grinnell College.<br />

<strong>AST</strong> PIMCO Total Return Bond <strong>Portfolio</strong><br />

William H. Gross, CFA is a founder, managing director and co-CIO of PIMCO based in the Newport Beach office. He has been<br />

with PIMCO since he co-founded the firm in 1971 and oversees the management of more than $1 trillion of securities. He is the<br />

author of numerous articles on the bond market, as well as the book, ”Everything You’ve Heard About Investing is Wrong,“<br />

published in 1997. Among the awards he has received, Morningstar named Mr. Gross and his investment team Fixed Income<br />

Manager of the Decade for 2000-2009 and Fixed Income Manager of the Year for 1998, 2000, and 2007 (the first three-time<br />

recipient). He received the Bond Market Association’s Distinguished Service Award in 2000 and became the first portfolio<br />

manager inducted into the Fixed Income Analysts Society’s hall of fame in 1996. Mr. Gross is a seven-time Barron’s Roundtable<br />

panelist (2005-2011), appearing in the annual issue featuring the industry’s top investment experts, and he received the Money<br />

Management Lifetime Achievement Award from Institutional Investor magazine in 2011. In a survey conducted by Pensions and<br />

Investments magazine in 1993, he was recognized by his peers as the most influential authority on the bond market in the<br />

U.S. He has 42 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of<br />

California, Los Angeles. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University.<br />

<strong>AST</strong> <strong>Prudential</strong> Core Bond <strong>Portfolio</strong><br />

Kay Willcox is Managing Director and portfolio manager for <strong>Prudential</strong> Fixed Income’s Core Fixed Income Strategy and other<br />

multi-sector fixed income strategies, including both intermediate and long duration portfolios. She is also Senior Investment<br />

Officer for <strong>Prudential</strong> Fixed Income and back-up portfolio manager on the Core Plus Fixed Income Strategy. Previously, Ms.<br />

Willcox was a mortgage-backed securities portfolio manager for the US Liquidity Team. She has specialized in mortgage-backed<br />

securities since joining <strong>Prudential</strong> Financial in 1987. Earlier, Ms. Willcox managed a segment of The <strong>Prudential</strong> Insurance<br />

Company of America’s proprietary portfolio. She also managed mutual fund fixed income portfolios and handled<br />

mortgage-backed security analysis and trading. She began her investment career in 1982 in the futures division of Shearson<br />

Lehman Brothers. Ms. Willcox received a BA in Mathematics from the University of Texas and an MBA in Finance from<br />

Columbia University.<br />

Michael J. Collins, CFA, is Senior Investment Officer and Credit Strategist for <strong>Prudential</strong> Fixed Income. He is also senior portfolio<br />

manager for Core Plus Fixed Income strategies. Mr. Collins formulates credit strategy for multi-sector portfolios and works with the<br />

corporate and high yield teams on portfolio strategy and construction. Previously, Mr. Collins was a High Yield <strong>Portfolio</strong> Manager<br />

and Investment Strategist for more than 10 years. Earlier he was a credit research analyst, covering investment grade and high<br />

yield corporate credits. Additionally, he developed proprietary quantitative international interest rate and currency valuation<br />

models for our global bond unit. Mr. Collins began his career at <strong>Prudential</strong> Financial in 1986 as a software applications designer.<br />

He received a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from the State University of New York at Binghamton and an MBA in<br />

Finance from New York University. Mr. Collins holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a Fellow of the Life<br />

Management Institute (FLMI).<br />

<strong>AST</strong> QMA US Equity Alpha <strong>Portfolio</strong><br />

QMA uses a team of portfolio managers and analysts to manage the <strong>Portfolio</strong>. The following portfolio managers have overall<br />

responsibility for managing the <strong>Portfolio</strong>’s day-to-day activities:<br />

Ted Lockwood is a Managing Director for Quantitative Management Associates (QMA), as well as the head of the asset allocation<br />

area. Ted is responsible for managing quantitative equity portfolios, investment research, and new product development. Ted has<br />

also worked as a member of the technical staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories. Ted graduated summa cum laude with a BE in<br />

Engineering from Stony Brook University and earned an MS in Engineering and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University.<br />
