Italian Folk Vernacular Culture in
Italian-American Lives
October 26 5:30 – 7:30 pm
Book presentation by Dr. Joseph Sciorra, Director,
Academic and Cultural Programs, John D. Calandra
Italian American Institute, Queens College/CUNY.
Sciorra will examine the cultural life of Italian Americans
through Sunday dinners, basement kitchens, backyard
gardens and daily entities associated with Italian
Americans as demonstrated in his edited collection of
essays. Refreshments will be served. Additional events
celebrating women educators will be presented during
Women’s History Month at MSU, a collaboration between
the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the
College of Education and Human Services. Sponsored by
the Coccia Institute for the Italian Experience in America.
