Mario Macaluso will examine the daily life of the
inhabitants of Pompeii before and after the eruption of
Mt. Vesuvius on August 24, 79 A.D. Comparison of
Pompeian mores, life-styles, religious beliefs, and artistic
creativity with contemporary times and slide presentation
depicting the architectural design of the Forum, Greek
Theatre, Baths, Fountains, homes and shops, including
the well-preserved house of the Vettii Brothers will be
viewed. Sponsored by the New York Council for the
Humanities, a state affiliate of the National Endowment
for the Humanities, and Half Hollow Hills Community
Library.
