<strong>Spring</strong> Break Storybook Adventures<br />

Your kindergartener will discover natural and springtime wonders,<br />

through the combination of storybooks and outdoor adventures. After<br />

hearing stories like Diary of a Worm, A Grand Old Tree, All Eyes on the Pond,<br />

and A Tiny Seed, your child will participate in exciting activities, games<br />

and craft projects related to the nature tales. Remember to dress for the<br />

outdoors.<br />

<strong>Spring</strong> Break Wild Ones<br />

The Nature Center is home to lots of weird and wonderful animals: bats,<br />

frogs, butterflies, raccoons, foxes, squirrels, owls, snakes and more. Each<br />

day your child will get to know different wild critters through riddles<br />

and puzzles. Their adventures will take them outside to explore where<br />

animals live and discover how they survive. Activities include games,<br />

outdoor expeditions, related craft projects, and field guide assembly. You<br />

might even meet some of these incredible critters!<br />

<strong>Spring</strong> Break Survivor!<br />

Does your child have what it takes to survive in the outdoors? Join us<br />

for adventures and fun, while learning outdoor survival skills. Create a<br />

shelter, find water sources, use a compass, and build and cook over a<br />

fire. Activities change annually and include skills challenges, teamwork<br />

activities, and time to enjoy the natural world.<br />

Fireside <strong>Program</strong>s<br />

Spend an evening or afternoon this winter seated in front of a flickering<br />

fire in our cozy <strong>Program</strong> Room or out on the trails as you listen to stories<br />

and participate in other fun activities! Snacks are provided. Children<br />

must be accompanied by a registered adult. Please pre-register to avoid<br />

cancellation due to low enrollment.<br />

Coyote Tales Fireside<br />

Listen to the stories of Coyote, the lovable and laughable Native<br />

American literary character who is hero, clown, educator, magician<br />

and fool, all wrapped in one! Hear about Coyote’s adventures as he<br />

treks across the continent, making the world ready for the coming of<br />

human beings and often getting into trouble along the way. This fireside<br />

includes a break for a craft and hot cocoa.<br />

Evening Campfire <strong>Program</strong>s<br />

Spend an evening this spring around a flickering campfire, participating<br />

in a sing-along or other fun activities! <strong>Spring</strong> Evening<br />

Campfire <strong>Program</strong>s are recommended for 4-yearolds<br />

and up. Campfire snacks are provided. In the<br />

event of rain, most programs will be held indoors<br />

in front of a fire in the <strong>Program</strong> Room. Preregistration<br />

is requested to avoid cancellation<br />

due to low enrollment. Children must be<br />

accompanied by a registered adult.<br />

Moms That Lay Eggs Campfire<br />

<strong>Spring</strong>time babies arrive in many ways!<br />

Celebrate Mother’s Day by learning about<br />

local animals that lay eggs, and discover<br />

the variety of eggs laid in the water, soil<br />

and high above the ground. Some are soft and<br />

some are hard, and from them are born birds, reptiles, amphibians and<br />

more.<br />

<strong>Spring</strong> Symphony Campfire<br />

The amazing springtime symphony has begun at Emily Oaks! Find out<br />

who the symphony players are and how they make their music. With<br />

the help of some simple tools, you’ll recreate the sounds of different<br />

frogs and birds and add your own notes and rhythms to nature’s<br />

melodic spring concert.<br />

<strong>Spring</strong> Sing & S’mores Campfire<br />

Join us for an evening of singing, clapping and strumming around the<br />

campfire! Follow song sheets as we sing lively nature tunes about<br />

seeds, swamps, slugs and more. Then we’ll make s’mores, a traditional<br />

campfire treat.<br />
