Aldo Leopold—A Standard of Change
Saturday, May 25 • 1-2 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. • Fee: $15
A one-man play written by and starring storyteller Jim Pfitzer,
Aldo Leopold – A Standard of Change takes place on one evening in and
around the famous Wisconsin shack that inspired much of Leopold’s
writing. Aldo Leopold was an educator, philosopher, forester, ecologist
and wilderness advocate, and the play explores the influences and
challenges that led him to pen his widely popular book,
A Sand County Almanac.
As the lights come up, Leopold walks up the path. It has been 64 years
since his death, and as many years since he has seen his now historic
Shack. Leopold invites his audience to join him as he reacquaints himself
with his beloved landscape, remembers influential friends and family,
quotes from some of his most important writings, and ponders his legacy.
Recommended for ages 12 and up. Contact Emily Oaks for ticket
information at (847) 674-1500, ext. 2500.
