Children will learn magic that will amaze family and friends, including tricks that<br />

feature cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading, and more. All materials provided. Sign up<br />

for this class again and again, as brand new tricks are taught each session!<br />

Kids to the Rescue<br />

Actors dramatize old fairy tales with strong heroes, adding new twists. Kids will learn<br />

warm ups, theatre game and teamwork. Equal sized parts for all. Students present a<br />

showcase in the final class.<br />

Mini-Playmakers<br />

Children will create miniature productions and explore theatre by building characters<br />

in spontaneous, collaborative storytelling. They also will get a look behind the scenes<br />

of theater. This is a continuing class with new opportunities introduced each session.<br />

Students present a showcase in the final class.<br />

Musical Theatre Basics<br />

By working on scenes and songs from Broadway musicals, students will learn stage<br />

directions, simple choreography, teamwork – and of course – singing the show<br />

stopper. Warm ups and theatre games are included and every child will get an equal<br />

size part. Students present a showcase in the final class.<br />

Devonshire Playhouse and Northlight Theatre join to present<br />

special opportunities for both the students and cast members of<br />

the Devonshire Playhouse to attend selected Northlight Theatre<br />

Performances and Master Workshops. Dates & details will be<br />

made available after registration for the class/production.<br />

March, <strong>2013</strong><br />

The cast of the Devonshire Playhouse Teen show, “Fame,” and<br />

the Academy of Comedy Winter class will take part in a master<br />

workshop and see the performance of: “Stones in His Pockets”<br />

In this play a couple of small town Irishmen hope to hit it big<br />

when hired as extras for an epic American movie filming in their<br />

scenic County Kerry village. This is a treat for thespians as they<br />

will see two actors playing 17 different roles!<br />

May, <strong>2013</strong><br />

The cast of the Devonshire Playhouse Show, “9-5,” will take part<br />

in a master workshop and see the performance of: “Stella and<br />

Lou.” This world premiere, focuses on a quiet night at Lou’s bar,<br />

where two kindred spirits seek solace as they navigate changing<br />

times and relationships past. This is an intimate exploration of<br />

friendship, forgiveness, and the longing for companionship that<br />

grows with the passage of time.<br />
