Purpose<br />
This guideline presents the current best evidence for screening, prognosis, diagnosis, management<br />
and prevention of glaucoma. Its purpose is to inform practice for Australian health care providers,<br />
particularly utilising a multi-disciplinary team approach.<br />
Target users<br />
This guideline is primarily targeted to Australian primary health care providers undertaking any task<br />
related to screening, prognosis, diagnosis, management and prevention of glaucoma, in any setting.<br />
Information is also provided for secondary health care providers.<br />
Guideline development period<br />
The systematic review underpinning these guidelines was completed in September 2008. The guideline<br />
was developed between August 2008 and June 2009. Public consultation occurred during October and<br />
November 2009.<br />
Date of review<br />
Given the rapid advances in knowledge regarding aspects of screening, prognosis, diagnosis,<br />
management and prevention of glaucoma, it is recommended that the literature is revisited in 2011.<br />
