TUESDAY
11:00 – 12:00
INF-NET2162 VXLAN Deep Dive
Technical Level:
Speaker(s): Arun Goel, VMware, Inc.
HALL 8, LOWER LEVEL | Room A3
VXLAN (Virtual eXtensible Local Area Network)
is a multivendor Layer 2 over Layer 3 overlay
technology driven by VMware and its partners.
It provides the ability to deploy virtual workloads
anywhere within or outside the data center
without being limited by the network.
The benefits of VXLAN for overlay networking,
pod expansion and alleviating problems related
to multi-tenancy (such as duplicate IP or Layer
2 addresses) are described in the VXLAN draft
submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force
(IETF) by VMware and its partners.
In this session, we will dig deep into VXLAN use
cases with packet walk-throughs. We will also
demonstrate a VXLAN use case using either
VMware or partner technology.
INF-SEC1172 Using VMware vCloud
Networking and Security and vCenter
Configuration Manager to Achieve
Better that Physical Security for
Business Critical Apps
Technical Level:
Area of Interest: fs
Speaker(s): Rob Randell, VMware, Inc.;
Jeff Szastak, VMware, Inc.
HALL 8, LOWER LEVEL | Room B1
As customers progress along their journey
towards 100% virtualization, they move beyond
IT owned applications and onto applications
required to operate the business. While
virtualization provides for more dynamic,
agile and flexible application deployments, a
remnant of these initial implementations is a
rigid, stagnant, and inflexible physical security
architecture supporting these applications.
These fixed, legacy implementations impede
a customer’s progression towards a dynamic,
flexible, agile, compliant, and secure infrastructure
able to support the most critical applications.
This session will examine how the vShield 5 suite
of products and VCM can increase the security
profile of Business Critical Applications like
Exchange 2010 and other multi-tier applications.
This interactive session will examine Reference
Architectures that leverage multiple VMware
products to bolster the protection profile of these
applications. In addition, the session will cover
using vApps and the concept of containerization
to enable compliant, secure, and scalable multitier
application deployments while reducing both
OPEX and CAPEX for the customer.
INF-STO1807 Just Because You Could,
Doesn’t Mean You Should - Lessons
Learned in Storage Best Practices
Technical Level:
Speaker(s): Owen Sheehy, VMware, Inc.
HALL 8, LOWER LEVEL | Room A2
This GSS Customer Support Day session will cover
storage best practices using customer examples
of how technologies can be misunderstood and
misused-often resulting in downtime, data loss
or worse. The second half of the session covers
architecting to avoid these incidents.
INF-VSP1196 What’s New with vCloud
Director Networking
Technical Level:
Area of Interest: t
Speaker(s): Kamau Wanguhu, VMware, Inc.
HALL 8, LOWER LEVEL | Room F4
One of the most complex components of a
vCloud Director implementation arises from the
complexity that comes from flexible networking.
Networking in vCloud Director is not a solution
by itself. It needs to be looked at as a platform on
top of which complex networking solutions can
be built. The networking framework consists of
many layers and components that need to be put
together properly in order to provide a functional
and secure networking solution.
This session will go into details on the different
networking layers, and how they are consumed
in vCloud Director when building solutions.
The session will also touch on how to scale virtual
machines networking across the whole data
center using VXLAN, in order to provide
for scalable Virtual Data Centers.
INF-VSP1622 Performance New
Features and Best Practices
for vSphere
Technical Level:
Speaker(s): Joseph Dieckhans, VMware, Inc.;
Todd Muirhead, VMware, Inc.;
Krishna Raj Raja, VMware, Inc.
HALL 8, LOWER LEVEL | Room B2
VMware continues to enhance the performance
features and capabilities of the vSphere platform
making it the most robust and highest-performing
cloud platform capable of running even the
most demanding workloads. In this session,
we will present the new performance features
in vSphere, provide technical details on how
these new performance features work, and offer
guidance and design considerations on how
and when the features could most benefit you.
Various performance studies will be presented
to show the real life value these features can
provide and the tips and tricks to best tune and
optimize vSphere so you can leverage it in your
environment to deliver unmatched enterprise
performance and user experience.
NewV-101 New-V Session
