Bursting in the Hybrid IaaS Cloud

In this session we will present a real-world
solution that demonstrates automated policybased
scaling of an n-tier application within a
private cloud and bursting of the application to
a public cloud provider. Our solution embeds
the scaling and bursting policy into the vApp as
metadata, allowing the policy to migrate with the
vApp and become an integral component of the
vApp lifecycle. VMware® vCenter Orchestrator
consumes the policy data and executes the
scaling/bursting tasks within and across
geographically disparate clouds.
As workloads are scaled, local and global network
traffic management is updated to route user
sessions to the appropriate resources.
We will take you through the design
considerations of an autoscaling/bursting
solution, walk through the implementation
and demonstrate our solution running across
clouds in the USA and EMEA.

compliance issues as a significant challenge
to more widespread cloud adoption. While
cloud security technologies continue to mature,
organizations need to understand the impact to
established security and management processes
posed by the cloud. In this session, VMware
experts will address key security and compliance
concerns when migrating workloads to the cloud,
while providing strategies for evaluating security
requirements for specific workloads. Attendees
will better understand how to manage a secure
cloud environment through embedded security
policies that enable automatic auditing
and remediation.

cloud computing adoption has expanded, we have
seen endless proof point in regards to the value

techniques that help you accelerate the migration.
This includes EC2 API dependencies and their
mappings to vCloud, and vBlob, an S3-compatible
blob store that can run on any file system,
developed by VMware as part of the Cloud
Foundry project.
Learn how to use the vShield Edge load balancer
to replace Elastic Load
Balancer(ELB) and AWS Virtual Private Cloud
(VPC), and how vSphere persistent storage
replaces and upgrades AWS Elastic Block
Store (EBS).
