WEDNESDAY
15:30 – 16:30
TEX1278 How to Jump-start
Your vSphere Web Client Plugin
Development Using the New VMware
Ecosystems Developer Center
Technical Level:
Speaker(s): Justin Broughton, VMware, Inc.;
Laurent Delamare, VMware, Inc.
HALL 8, LOWER LEVEL | room F3
As a prospective vSphere Web Client Plugin
Developer, you face a number of obstacles:
• Knowing where to get started
• Finding and taking appropriate training
• Setting up your development environment with
all the relevant components/tools
• Discovering relevant technical information as
you develop, test and deploy
The new VMware Ecosystems Developer Center
portal will provide a number of capabilities which
help developers quickly and easily navigate these
obstacles with:
• Solution articles – which answer the question of
where do I start to develop a plugin
• Architecture white-papers – which provide a
deep-dive into architecture of the vSphere
Web Client
• Virtual Training Labs – rich training content to
provide a truly hands-on experience
• Development Environment as a Service
(IDEaaS) – a full vSphere Web-Client Plugin
development environment set up with the latest
released software, for as long you need it
• Comprehensive documentation – everything you
need to know at your finger-tips
This session explains how developers will be able
to use the capabilities of VMware Ecosystems
Developer Center to more easily develop vSphere
Web Client plugins. We will take you through a
live demo of the steps a typical developer would
go through including:
• Discovering the solution which you need
to develop
• Reviewing important aspects of the overall
vSphere Web Client architecture - extension
points, data-service and data extensibility
• Taking the vSphere Web Client training lab
• Developing a plugin from end to end
• Packaging, deploying and testing the plugin
• Ongoing learning with tips, tricks and
best-practices
Please bring your burning questions about this
new platform as there will be plenty of time
devoted to these both at the end of the session
and outside the session hall afterwards.
