The charts on this page and the next illustrate<br />
<strong>Cummins</strong>’ <strong>com</strong>mitment to the environment<br />
by often exceeding U.S. emissions standards.<br />
The on-road charts for North America <strong>com</strong>pare<br />
the estimated maximum allowable emissions by<br />
U.S. EPA standards <strong>com</strong>pared to <strong>Cummins</strong>’<br />
estimate of its engines’ actual emissions for<br />
the past three years.<br />
Estimates are based on the number of engines,<br />
both heavy-duty and midrange, manufactured in<br />
the United States for on-highway use per year.<br />
<strong>Cummins</strong> engines have released far less<br />
Hydrocarbon and Carbon Monoxide into the<br />
environment than the maximum allowed by the<br />
EPA. And even by the tough Nitrogen Oxide and<br />
Particulate Matter measures, <strong>Cummins</strong> has been<br />
under the standards.<br />
The figures in the non-road charts are based<br />
on the number of midrange, heavy-duty and<br />
high-horsepower engines produced to EPA<br />
standards. As with <strong>Cummins</strong>’ on-road engines,<br />
these non-road engines release far less HC and<br />
CO into the environment than the maximum<br />
allowed by regulatory agencies. Likewise, NOx<br />
and PM actual emission levels are under the<br />
applicable standards.<br />
