Mississippi River. It graciously flows along
the towering bluffs of western Vernon County,
while diverse terrain, secluded valleys, trout
streams, and contour strip farming make up
the landscape of the Coon Creek Valley area.
You will rediscover the charm of small towns
nestled among the ridges and coulees in the
center of the county. Steeped in Scandinavian
heritage and history, you will find diverse shops,
local artists, and farmer’s markets. As you drive
along the quiet country roads, you may also
have a chance to explore the simplicity, purity
and peace of the Amish settlement. A unique
geology is clearly represented in the Kickapoo
River Valley communities. With the Kickapoo
River winding through the 8,569 acres of public
land, it is worthy of a visit to its Visitor Center.

invigorating nature of our eastern gateway is
the perfect place to begin or end your journey.
