AQUATICS • Recreational Swimming<br />
So much to do and fun to be had! Being active is important for your heart and overall wellness and<br />
is also a great deal <strong>of</strong> fun. The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Catharines</strong> has programs for a diversity <strong>of</strong> interests.<br />
Be sure to check out some <strong>of</strong> the following fantastic opportunities:<br />
Leisure Swimming<br />
Leisure Swim<br />
Leisure swims are open to everyone, whether you are an advanced<br />
swimmer or if you’re still wearing your arm floats. No pressure to<br />
perform or swim fast -- everyone is welcome to drift lazily and enjoy a<br />
comfortable swim. These swims are an ideal time for people <strong>of</strong> all ages<br />
to play in an aquatic setting.<br />
Toddler Time<br />
Did your little ones wake up early today Are you looking for something<br />
to do that will be fun and burn lots <strong>of</strong> energy Toddler Time is<br />
just for you! Enjoy the warm water <strong>of</strong> the Leisure Pool and explore<br />
all the toys. Toddler Time is the perfect opportunity to give those<br />
young ones their very first splash in the water. This swim is specifically<br />
designed for preschoolers and their caregivers only (maximum two<br />
preschoolers per adult). For your pre-schoolers safety, caregivers must<br />
remain within arm’s reach <strong>of</strong> their preschoolers at all times. Please note<br />
that pool use is restricted to the Leisure Pool.<br />
Youth SWYM (Swim With Your Music)<br />
Bring your friends, have fun and listen to your favourite tunes!<br />
Must be 11 – 16 years old.<br />
Ball Time Fun<br />
Enjoy a leisure swim with the added fun <strong>of</strong> balls, balls and more balls!<br />
Toy Time<br />
Enjoy a leisure swim with the added fun <strong>of</strong> toys!<br />
Game Time<br />
Make your swim more playful by participating in games led by our<br />
aquatics staff.<br />
Family Fun Nights<br />
Join us on these night for all kinds <strong>of</strong> wacky and fun filled games.<br />
Incredible Mat Races, Tic-Tac-Toe and more fun awaits deck side and in<br />
the water as well. You’ll think you’re on a Cruise Ship so come out and<br />
enjoy family fun right here at your neighbourhood pool.<br />
Aquatic Activity<br />

Put some kick into your day! Come out for fitness and fun!<br />
Soak and <strong>St</strong>retch<br />
A drop in program for individuals who require space and time in the<br />
Leisure Pool to work through prescribed exercise or simply want to<br />
enjoy the benefits <strong>of</strong> the warm water.<br />
Deep Water Walking<br />
Self-guided time in the deep area <strong>of</strong> the Lane or Leisure Pool.<br />
Use a flotation belt or water noodle for support to eliminate any<br />
impact on your joints. Enjoy the social aspects <strong>of</strong> this friendly and<br />
relaxing environment.<br />
Aquatic Fitness<br />
Forever Fit<br />
Choose to participate in the Leisure Pool or the Lane Pool. This<br />
instructor led program will feature fitness activities to enhance<br />
your quality <strong>of</strong> life. Range <strong>of</strong> motion, core strength, cardio, balance,<br />
flexibility and overall muscle strength exercises will be featured.The<br />
program in the Leisure Pool will be modified to suit the individual<br />
needs <strong>of</strong> the participants.<br />
Deep Water Aquafit<br />
Must be able to swim 25 metres and be comfortable in deep water.<br />
Classes are held in deep water in the Lane Pool eliminating any impact<br />
on your joints, using the floatation belts for added support. Deep water<br />
classes are ideal for developing core strength and balance. Emphasis is<br />
on cardiovascular fitness, conditioning and toning.<br />
Aquafit<br />
This program takes place in the shallow and deep areas <strong>of</strong> the Lane<br />
Pool. A fun exercise program combining the benefits <strong>of</strong> our shallow<br />
and deep aquafit. Emphasis is on cardiovascular fitness, conditioning<br />
and toning.<br />
