The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Catharines</strong> administers and maintains more than 1,000 acres <strong>of</strong> parks and trails. Within<br />

the parks are 250 carefully manicured floral displays. The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Catharines</strong> also <strong>of</strong>fers permits<br />

for special events, picnics and wedding photos as well as a host <strong>of</strong> playing fields available for rental.<br />

Trails<br />

Through a network <strong>of</strong> city trails, the Bruce Trail and Short Hills<br />

Provincial Park, there are over 90 kilometres <strong>of</strong> accessible pathways<br />

that crisscross the city.<br />

<strong>St</strong>arting at Jaycee Park, this 1.2 km asphalt pathway takes you<br />

through the park and over the Martindale Pond Pedestrian Bridge<br />

to Rennie Park in Port Dalhousie.<br />

Trail Rules and Courtesy<br />

“Wheels Yield to Heels”: Pedestrians always have the right <strong>of</strong> way on the<br />

trail and cyclists must yield to both pedestrians and in-line skaters. In areas<br />

where the trail crosses a roadway, all trail traffic must yield to the vehicular<br />

traffic. When travelling along the roadway, cyclists must obey traffic laws<br />

and pedestrians are required to use the municipal sidewalk or travel on<br />

the shoulder <strong>of</strong> the road facing oncoming traffic. Under no circumstances<br />

should anyone traverse the Canadian National Railway mainline.<br />

Etiquette<br />

Always pass on the left when possible<br />

• Cyclists yield to rollerbladers and walkers<br />

• Rollerbladers yield to walkers<br />

• Cyclists and rollerbladers must pass other trail users with<br />

care and caution<br />

• Do not litter and leave the trails cleaner than when you arrived<br />

• Respect the privacy <strong>of</strong> those living along the trails<br />

• No motorized vehicles<br />

• Dogs must be leashed - please clean up after your dog<br />

THE GREEN COMMITTEE<br />

The Green Committee is a committee <strong>of</strong> Council, created to promote and encourage horticultural greening<br />

and naturalization on public and private land throughout <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Catharines</strong>.<br />

Our partnerships have seen many projects bloom in recent years and future collaboration will ensure that we aspire to being truly the Garden <strong>City</strong>.<br />

Showmobile Rentals:<br />

Portable <strong>St</strong>age Take your show to the audience. The Recreation<br />

and Community Services Department operates a mobile stage that<br />

stretches out to a 16x38 stage with a large weatherpro<strong>of</strong> covering.<br />

Featured is a 2x 600 watt sound system that provides enough power<br />

and flexibility for a variety <strong>of</strong> needs. Rent your sound and stage for the<br />

price <strong>of</strong> one!<br />
