Heritage Tours
The Downtown Heritage Walking Tour provides an overview of
St. Catharines’ downtown core and its rich history. The tour highlights
significant sites and stories of the city. Tour overview maps are
installed at the Old Lincoln County Courthouse on King Street, and at
Gateway St. Catharines on the corner of St. Paul and Ontario Streets.
The Canal Driving Tour in Merritton provides visitors with information
about the history of Merritton and highlights important sites along
the first three Canals. The tour starts at the Welland Canals Centre with
interpretative signage installed at sites along the route.

Mayholme Geneological & Historical
Research Centre
The mission of the Mayholme Foundation is to promote and assist
genealogical and historical research by collecting, storing and
preserving historic documents and materials. They aim to bring to
the public a better awareness of the role our ancestors played in the
history of our community. Open Fridays or by appointment.
Morningstar Mill
Morningstar Mill is a picturesque heritage site owned by the City of
St. Catharines and operated by the Friends of Morningstar Mill.
Located at Decew Falls, the site backs onto the Bruce Trail and is a
popular picnic and photo location for local residents and visitors.

Port Dalhousie Inner Range Lighthouse
For just over a century, Port Dalhousie Harbour served as the northern
terminus of the first three Welland Canals. These made the town a
maritime destination and industrial centre. This is the third lighthouse
to be located on this site. The first lighthouse was constructed in 1852,
but by 1893 the existing light was considered outdated and a new
lighthouse was constructed.
